Ed Emberley: Hi. This is Ed Emberley. Rebecca Emberley, my daughter and I, wrote and illustrated a book titled Mice on Ice. I'm going to tell you a little bit about it.

Over the past couple of years we have illustrated 10 books together. Now everybody will say wait a minute, how can two people do one book?

Well, you can look at a page and when the text says "Mice skate on ice," you will see that there are three mice on the page all colorfully dressed up. And if you look very carefully at the pictures, you'll notice they're all made with cut paper.

But even so, that doesn't tell you well how did two people do one book like this? Well, in this particular page, it's clear because my daughter Rebecca, she made the mice. She said, "I can make the mice, but if we're gonna get this book done, you're gonna have to help. And the way you're gonna help is you're gonna make the ice."

Well I made the ice. She said, "Well I'm going to do the rest of the mice, and we'll have plenty of time to do this job if you will take on the job of making the trees."

And if you look at the trees, you will see that they're piles of cut paper just like that. The snowflakes, I made some of those. Every once and awhile I would do one with the tracks that the skates are making in the ice like that.

So that's how we divide the work. The most important thing is that you can look at the cut paper, and what I hope you'll go away from this explanation of one particular set of drawings is, I think I could do that. And I'll bet you can.
