Linda Sue Park: Hello, my name is Linda Sue Park. When my mom and dad first came to the United States from Korea, they went to college in the south; my mom to South Carolina and my dad to Tennessee. So, when I was born, they gave me what they thought was a really nice all-American name, and in the south, many people use both their first and middle names. That's why I'm Linda Sue Park. My family all calls me Linda Sue, some people just call me Linda and I don't mind that, but my name is Linda Sue.

Many of my characters have Korean names. In The Kite Fighters, the brothers are Kee-sup and Young-sup. In A Single Shard, there's Kang, Min, and Ajima. In When My Name was Keoko, Sun-hee is the girl, and Tae-yul is the boy. Sun-hee calls her mother Omoni and her father Abuji. In Archer's Quest, the strange visitor in Kevin's bedroom is called Chu-mong.
